Structural Control on Depositional Processes

October 30, 2026.

➡️ Structural Control on Depositional Processes – that was the title of the recent, 2-day technical seminar by FORCE – held on October 13-14, 2026 (see featured image). 👏  The seminar was organised by the “structural geology” and the “sedimentology and stratigraphy” network groups. 👏

➡️ I also wrote an article in January of this year on – “The influence of preexisting deep-seated structures on sedimentary processes and facies distribution, …and its application in hydrocarbon exploration on the NCS“. 👏  See article here 👉  Goto article.

➡️ In the article, I shared briefly on the importance of preexisting structural features in controlling depositional processes and sedimentary packages. More importantly, I shared how this concept can and should be incorporated into exploration workflows and prospect maturation. I then presented two recent case studies in which subsurface products based on the concept were used in the YTF Exploration’s Well Prediction Toolbox (WPT) to successfully predict the outcomes of two recent wildcat wells on the NCS👏. This vital concept is one of the elements used in the YTF Exploration’s WPT for exploration well predictions👏. As noted in the article, this concept and associated techniques can be applied at the play level and at the prospect level. 👏

👉 To learn more about how this concept can be incorporated into your prospect maturation workflows, i.e. what subsurface products to generate and how to use them… 👉 let’s chat – consulting@ytfexploration.com  👏
