β‘οΈ Norway’s 26th Licensing Round is now underway!ππ The Norwegian Offshore Directorate has just announced the invitation for block nominationsπ, including the requirements and processes. Deadline is October 1, 2025. π
β‘οΈ As noted by the Norwegian Offshore Directorate, – “The numbered licensing rounds encompass the opened, immature parts of the Norwegian continental shelf, where the potential for making major discoveries is greatest”.π
β‘οΈ The blocks that can be nominated are shown in the attached maps (below), …in areas well primed for frontier exploration.π. For more details – https://www.sodir.no/en/facts/production-licences/licensing-rounds/26th-round/
Without a doubt, this is a great opportunity for frontier exploration…to pick up blocks in some of the remaining spots with great potential for making big discoveries. The need for increase in frontier-type exploration has been raised by the Norwegian Offshore Directorate in recent years, so it’s good to see that the numbered licensing round is finally back! It is expected that large discoveries from frontier exploration will help prevent or delay the decline in NCS production profile in the coming years!π
